Within ten minutes of meeting Emma you feel her passion for beauty like being caught in a creative hail storm. By the end of fifteen, you’ve laughed with your new best friend, and within twenty you appreciate why she’s well-respected by the international fashion community.
Her make-up / styling skills have been applied to the pages of Marie Claire, Vogue [American, British, Italian, L'Uomo editions], Glamour, Cosmopolitan, Mademoiselle, Self, Shape, YM and Paper magazines; all publications that stake their industry authority on artistic distinction. Along with her face artistry, Emma’s professional advice and make-up guidance have also been featured in these same publications.
Additionally, Emma’s talent has been trusted by familiar names such as James Taylor, Lou Reed, Cyndi Lauper, Andie McDowell, Ilianna Douglas, Kathy Bates, Vincent Perez, Minnie Driver and Leonardo Dicaprio and by catalog marketers such as J.Crew, Macy’s, and Bloomingdales. She’s been involved with well known ad campaigns for Dewar’s Scotch, Swatch, and Keds. Too, such designers as Richard Tyler, Ellen Tracy, Emmanuel Ungaro, Mary McFadden, and Pixie Yates have asked Emma to create make-up “looks”.
Emma Carter earned a degree in Journalism and Advertising from the University of Colorado when she moved to New York for a 2 year run with Cosmopolitan Magazine. From Cosmopolitan, Emma logged time with Barney’s as Account Manager for Prescriptives and Shiseido. Then, as the personal assistant to Make-up Artist Bobbi Brown, Emma moved up to be a national Make-up Artist for Bobbi’s company “Bobbi Brown Essentials”. Emma also took an active role in product development for Bobbi Brown Essentials.
In addition to Bobbi, Emma has worked with Make-up artists: Denise Markey, Pat McGrath, Lydia Snyder and with photographers Bruce Weber, Steven Meisel and, naturally, Bruce DeBoer, among others.
Prior to joining DeBoer Works, Emma built her own salon “The Parlor” into the pre-eminent stop for Raleigh fashionistas which included her own make-up line affectionately named Tallulah after her beloved companion – see gallery.
The bottom line: Eat your heart out New York, She’s ours now!
