I attended a Social Media event a few weeks ago and walked away with these incomplete thoughts:
- Most people have no f’ing clue how to integrate their marketing efforts – I want to coin the term: Schizoid Marketing
- Social Media Marketing feels similar to custom publishing and Tweets are the table of contents and the index.
- Companies are engaging in social media but are critical when people get all “social” on them by acting less professional.
- The ideas surrounding authenticity and transparency are still only words to many, it hasn’t sunk in yet.
- There is a very wide gap between those who “get it” (almost, maybe, kind of) and those who don’t.
- Everyone has a brand, but in the age of Social Media companies don’t own their brand, so where does that leave us – do we no longer own our personal brand?
- We build personal brand capital by what we do for others (the pull) but as soon as we start bragging about what we can do (the push) we spend it.
